Welcome to Mrs. Love's Music class! All students at St. Alphonsus, grades PK3-8th, attend Music class at least once per week. Band is offered as an optional extra-curricular activity in the mornings before the school day begins, and Choir is offered as an after school activity for certain parts of the school year.
This is my 5th year at St. Alphonsus, and my 9th year teaching at a Catholic School. I earned my Bachelor's degree in Music from Furman University, and my Master of Music degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. I'm a practicing Catholic, mother of four children, and organist and co-music director at St. Alphonsus Church.
It is such a blessing to teach at St. Alphonsus school! I enjoy passing on a love of music to my students as well as strengthening their faith through music for school liturgies.
Please see the information below to learn about Music classes at St. Alphonsus School!
PreK-3 and PK-4 are working on singing simple melodies and keeping a steady beat. We often use drums and xylophones with our songs! We've also started working on songs that we're going to perform for Grandparents' Day on March 29th.
Kindergarten is learning music in preparation for singing in the choir for School Mass. Kindergarten will sing for school Mass on Friday, March 15th. We've also started working on songs that we're going to perform for Grandparents' Day on March 29th.
1st and 2nd grade music classes are working on learning our school Mass songs. We'll also learn to keep a steady beat and play rhythms on rhythm sticks and maracas.
3rd-5th grade music classes are working on playing recorders. All students are learning to read pitches and rhythms as we learn each new piece.
Middle School music has completed their Drumming curriculum and are now working on a short unit on Instruments of the orchestra.
