Welcome to PK 3 at St Alphonsus Catholic school!!!
We have had an amasing year so for with our wonderful and cheerful students. Our students have plenty
of fun learning each and every day. They enjoy listening to stories read to them daily, whole class learning as well
as small class instruction. They are challenged through small group learning activities. Most of their learning is all
fun even if they don't realize the activity was related to the learning objective of the day. They have plenty of fun
through play in center time also. The students are engaged in playing
in a make believe environment where they learn to share, work together, and take turns. They learn daily about
the catholic faith,to pray, say prayers, hear bible stories, and learn christian songs. They attend mass with the
school children and faculty weekly.
Heading the class is Mrs.Powers. Mrs. Powers along with her husband have been members of St Alphonsus
Catholic church since 1982. She is a 2007 graduate from Southeastern Louisiana University. Mrs.Powers has a BS
in Early childhood education PK - 3rd grade.She has taught for 12 years in both public and catholic schools .Eight
years have been here at SAS. Mrs.Powers is the mother of 4 children whom are all alumni of SAS. Also, she is a
grandmother of 4 children.
Her experince is extensive in with dealing with children in ages from 2 - 15 years old through coaching gymnastics
for over 30 years. The love of her work with children is easy to see through her passion for helping them to be
their best in the classroom in academics. They socially grow into great students that are truly well rounded in their
catholic faith.
