St. Alphonsus School adopted the Core Knowledge Curriculum to be the sole guidelines for planning and implementing student instruction beginning with the 2007-2008 School Year.

The Core Knowledge Sequence is a detailed outline of specific content to be taught in language arts, history, geography, mathematics, science, and the fine arts. By fostering academic excellence and higher literacy, Core Knowledge provides a solid, specific, shared core curriculum in order to help children establish a strong foundation of knowledge. Core Knowledge is a guide to coherent content from grade to grade, designed to encourage steady academic progress as children build their knowledge and skills from one year to the next. It is a rigorous program that is compatible with a variety of instructional methodologies and additional subject matter.

Catholic schools have traditionally set the bar for excellence in education. Join us as we raise that bar with the assistance of the Core Knowledge Curriculum!
