The School Counseling Program at St. Alphonsus School is designed to support the overall
development of each student—academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually. The program fosters a positive school environment rooted in trust, respect, and care for self and others.

Our school counselor works in partnership with parents, teachers, administrators, and outside professionals to support student growth and readiness for future success. Services include classroom guidance lessons, small group counseling, short-term individual counseling, and consultation with families and faculty. The counselor is available to help students with day-to-day challenges and to support families navigating transitions or situational crises.

In addition, the counselor assists in developing classroom accommodations and supporting
intervention strategies. When an external evaluation is being conducted for a student’s special needs, the school counselor helps coordinate communication between the school and outside professionals. If outside agencies require teacher input via forms, the counselor will distribute these directly to staff and return them as needed. Final evaluation reports should be submitted to the school counselor, where they are maintained as confidential records. Families may also choose to share this information directly with teachers.
