Accelerated Reader

Accelerated Reader

St. Alphonsus School participates in the Accelerated Reader (AR) program.  Students in 2nd through 5th grade are expected to meet a predetermined point goal each nine weeks.  The AR program is designed to encourage a love for reading by finding the right book for each student while building vocabulary and reading comprehension skills.

At the beginning of each nine weeks students will take a STAR test, the STAR test will assign a book level to each student.  Students are to pick a book in their book level to achieve their point goal.  Books can be utilized from the SAS library, classroom libraries, home libraries, the public library, or books can be purchased from a bookseller.  Parents can check on their child’s progress via the AR Home Connect website using their child’s AR log-in information.  AR Book Finder is a wonderful resource for checking book levels, points, and reading a quick synopsis of books that are included in the AR program.

  • Click HERE to check book levels via the AR Book Finder website
